Adult Advanced Beginner Workshop (Ages 17+)

$230 for Three 2-hour sessions (total of 6 hours.)

Want to register for a workshop but have a schedule clash? We offer Flex-Scheduling! Registrants have the option to attend on another scheduled day. Flex-Scheduled days are set up at registration. Flex-Scheduled days are Monday, Friday or Saturday. (For Example: You sign up for Saturday sessions but are not able to make one class. Attend on a Monday or Friday for makeup class!) This is a program to build upon basic sewing skills.  This is a private group seminar (6 participants max.) built to promote independence and confidence, build community amongst sewists and foster possible career avenues and side income potentials amongst participants.  

Class size: 6 students maximum per session. 

Having a sewing machine at home is preferred, though a class set of machines are available. Instructor will give homework assignments. In order to make accurate progress with sewing much practice is needed. Hence, please think of purchasing a standard sized sewing machine. Instructor is available to assist with this process.

Students have the choice of two options:

PASSION PROJECT. Students will work on their passion project or unfinished project with full assistance from the instructor during the sessions. Instructor is able to help with many sewing objectives including alterations, hemming, gathering, casings, adding zippers, patternmaking, working with commercial patterns, design concepts, etc. Students will have a consultation with instructor before workshop starts to establish sewing goal and the most efficient way to reach goal. 

INSTRUCTOR LED CURRICULUM. Students will learn a new technique each class. Students will have a consultation with instructor before workshop starts to establish sewing goal and the most efficient way to reach goal. 

Class 1: Working with Knits. Students will learn the basics of working with knits, composition and why they are utilized. Students will discover sewing tools and notions related to knits. Students will complete a sewing project with knits. (Basic pencil skirt, basic maxi skirt, basic t-shirt, simple skirt etc.)

Class 2: Working with Knits (Part 2) . Students will continue to learn the basics of working with knits, composition and why they are utilized. Students will discover sewing tools and notions related to knits. Students will complete a sewing project with knits. (Basic pencil skirt, basic maxi skirt, basic t-shirt, simple skirt etc.)

Class 3: Hems 101. Students will learn the basics of hems as they complete the knits project. Students will discover sewing tools and notions related to hems. Students will complete the knits project in which a hem may be required for sleeves or bottom of garment.

 Prerequisite: Ability to thread sewing machine independently. Ability to sew a straight line, curves and squares without assistance.

Some supplies are included with registration! Sewing machine, some notions are included in the class fee. Participants will need to bring fabric, notions and basic sewing kit tools to class. Participants will need to bring one 3-prong notebook to class for handouts!

Workshops are conveniently held in Historic College Park, GA right off Main Street. The address will be sent at registration.

Please arrive 5 minutes early in order to set up sewing machine and be ready for class session.
