New Beginner Adult Session
Dates of the cohort include Fridays in April 14, 21, 28 and May 5, 2023.
Times: 06:30 PM-8:00 PM New Beginner Adult Session (Ages 14-101)
Adult classes is $199 for sessions (total of 6 hours).
Location for this event is 3480 E. Main Street, College Park, GA 30337 (St. John's Episcopal Church).
Class size: 6 students maximum per session.
Dates of the Fairburn cohort include Mondays in April 10, 17, 24, 2023.
Times: 6:30 PM-08:00 PM Beginner Adult Session (Ages 14-101)
Adult classes is $199 for sessions (total of 6 hours).
Location for this event is 7905 Senoia Road, Fairburn, GA 30213 (Holiday Inn Express).
All Supplied included! Sewing Machine, Basic Sewing Kit, Notions, Fabric, Pillow Fluff are included in class fee. Feel Free to bring 1 yard of fabric for the first and second project if desired. (Pillow and Tote Bag)
No prior experience is required! This workshop will enhance beginner skills in sewing.
Participants will leave the workshop with an understanding of basic sewing machine skills, knowledge of basic sewing tools, basic troubleshooting techniques and a few easy projects including a choice of pillow, letter pillow, infinity scarf, simple tote or zipper bag!
Masks are not required for these workshops! Masks are PREFERRED! Masks will be provided for all participants if needed.
Students have the option to take the Intermediate Beginner Class in May. Ask within for details. Call 678-435-9072 or email whatsshecreating@gmail.com.

Outline of Class/Classes includes:
1st Session
Your Why? An introduction to Sewing and Flowing, Basic Sewing Tools & Notions, Explaining the Sewing Machine 101, Sewing Machine Threading, Machine Stitching and Practice, Review, Basic Patterns and Pinning, Creation of Pillow Project.
2nd Session
Review of Sewing Machine Basics and Practice, Threading a Bobbin practice, Finish Pillow Project if needed, Practice Curves and Pivoting.
3rd Session
Review Sewing Machine Basics, Fabric Basics 101, Pattern Basics Part 2, Creation of Tote Bag.
4th Session
Review Sewing Machine Basics, Finish tote bag. Start and finish Zipper Bag Project. Create Infinity scarf or letter pillow if time allows.

NEW Adult Intermediate Beginner Workshop College Park
Dates of the College Park cohort include Saturdays in April 8, 15, 22, 29, 2023.
Times: 11:00 AM-12:30 PM Adult Session (Ages 14-101)
Adult classes is $199 for sessions (total of 6 hours).
Location for this event is 3480 E. Main Street, College Park, GA 30337 (St. John's Episcopal Church).
Class size: 6 students maximum per session.
In this sewing workshop students will create a clothing and accessory items using various easy patterns. Students will create a basic gathered skirt with elastic waistband or a gathered waist apron. In this workshop student will learn more sewing techniques including basic hems, gathers, edge finishes and pattern basics. Some homework may need to be completed to finish garments by the end of class. The following images are replicas of the finished garments. Finished garments will vary slightly.


Supplies included: Sewing machine, basic sewing kit, some notions, some fabric are available for project.

Session #1
Sewing Machine Review and Practice, Patternmaking basics, understanding selvage, notches, placing on fold, darts, pinning, sewing tools for patternmaking, measuring your body, sewing a garment using an easy pattern. Starting first project by cutting out and sizing pattern and fabric with all markings.
Session #2
Reviewing sewing machine and practice, review pattern basics and finish all cutting. Learn gathering techniques. Create skirt or apron.
Session #3 and #4
Review sewing machine and practice, review pattern basics, Learn hem techniques. Finish skirt or apron.
Wild Card Beginner Workshop
Students will work on their passion project or unfinished project with full assistance from the instructor during the four-week workshop.
Dates of the College Park cohort include Saturdays in April 8, 15, 22, 29, 2023. The class time is subject to change to Saturdays 4/8, 4/15 and 4/22 only for two hours each. This is based on consensus from all participants.

Open Studio
This option is for previous/current Learn To Sew Workshop students only. The sewing studio is open for students to drop-in on Saturdays in College Park from 11:30-2:15 PM or Mondays from 6:30-8:00 PM in Fairburn (Space is very limited) 2 times per month to utilize space to finish ongoing projects. Students will have minimal assistance from instructor. Students will work independently to finish projects. Students are able to ask questions as needed. Students are not to flood instructor with questions otherwise please book a private session. Please use tables furthest away from sewing machines to give class participants first preference. Please reach out to instructor as least 4 days before open studio session to schedule days attending for the month.
Cost: $65 per month.
Neci has been an avid sewist for over 20 years. She is a master teacher having taught for over 12 years in the areas of Sewing Education, Art Instruction, and Nutrition & Food Science. She has a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Design, studied graduate fashion coursework at Savannah College of Art and Design and has a Master Teacher's Certificate and Degree. She has created over 400 sewn handbags through the Neci LoveHarmon brand. She has also created her wardrobe many times over the last 20 years including prom dress, wedding dress, home decor and everything in between.
